Central Connecticut State University's Honors Program Application
Entrance for Fall 2025

To receive full consideration for admission, prospective students must complete both the regular undergraduate admissions process to Central and this supplementary Honors Program application.

The Priority Admission deadline is November 15, 2024. The Regular Admission deadline is December 15, 2024. The standards for admission do not differ between the Priority and Regular Admission deadlines.

Transfer students and current Central students who will have completed 60 credits or fewer upon entering the Honors Program in Fall 2025, and who have a cumulative collegiate GPA of 3.5 or higher, are invited to apply. If you have more than 60 credits, please contact the Program Director to discuss your individual situation before applying. Please consult the Honors Program website for curriculum requirements for transfer and current Central students.

PRIORITY ADMISSION
Applications received by November 15, 2024 will be considered for Priority Admission, and are guaranteed to receive an admission decision to the Honors Program no later than December 15, 2024.

REGULAR ADMISSION
Applications received by December 15, 2024 will be considered for Regular Admission, and are guaranteed to receive an admission decision to the Honors Program no later than January 31st, 2025.

Applications received after December 15, 2024 will be considered on a rolling basis until the Program’s entering class is filled.

SCHOLARSHIP AND GPA REQUIREMENTS
Successful candidates will receive admission to the Program and a $4500 scholarship for the 2025-2026 academic year, renewable for additional years based on maintaining a 3.30 Central cumulative GPA, as well as in Honors Program courses. Please Note: This scholarship may be combined with other Central scholarships only to the extent allowed by University policy.

Short Essays

In your essays, please do not specifically identify any relationships you may have to individual faculty, staff, students, or alumni at CCSU. Doing so may disqualify your application.

CCSU holds its students to strict standards of academic honesty. Students are expected to write their own essays for this application. Evidence of the use of AI to generate essay responses may result in the application being rejected.

Describe how you have challenged yourself academically and reflect on what you learned from the experience. For example, you may have taken extra courses, high level courses, or courses in disciplines you find challenging, or have been enrolled in an afterschool or summer program. (300-500 words)

Describe a high school volunteer or extracurricular activity and discuss how the experience benefited both you personally and the organization you helped. (300-500 words)

Choose a book, film, or other form of media and discuss how it challenged you aesthetically, morally, politically, and / or spiritually – in other words, discuss how you engaged with a work that ran counter to your personal worldview. What important lesson or skill did you take from this encounter, and how do you anticipate responding to similarly challenging material in the Honors curriculum? (300-500 words)
